It is with great sadness that the family of Martin Michael Schurek announces his sudden passing on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the age of 77 years.
Martin will be missed dearly by his loving wife of 53-years, Pat (Bugsy) (née Korol); sons, Michael and Andrew (Anya); brother, David (Lois); and sister, Sharron. Martin will also be missed by many special cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Olive (née Martin) and Michael Schurek.
Martin loved his family; he was always first to provide his expertise with all projects; winters were spent at the villa in Playa; spring was the start of garage sale season and you could always recognize him coming up the driveway wearing his signature Tilley hat; summers were spent outside doing projects, enjoying the outdoors, and being around the firepit. You could always find him putzing in his garage, or relaxing reading a book in the hot tub.
Martin started his own environmental consulting business in 1993, after leaving the Alberta Research Council of 22-years; Martin found his true passion in environmental engineering, and site remediation, he achieved excellence in his field and was admired by his peers.
Martin’s memory will last an eternity, the memories and stories with family and friends will help to fill the enormous void that we have in our lives now that he is gone.

Visitation Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Park Memorial, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton. Funeral Service Monday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel. Cremation to follow with a private inurnment at a later date.
